How is it high-end if its not VGA?

A 2750 doesn't have VGA and it is considered a "high end pda" - and then some.

Shame about VGA, would have been nearly perfect for ME otherwise (I realise this may not be what other people want!)

I think 128 vs 64Mb memory can be argued about, and 624 vs 520 vs 400 MHz, but the only real recent innovation with PPC's has been VGA screens. Everything else is just a little more or little better.

If its not VGA its not high end. The HP 2750 is a nice try, but as above many people say, "why no VGA, I might as well get a Dell with a VGA screen, even though it has less memory, a smaller battery, no fingerprint scanner, no flip cover and is not an HP etc". VGA is today's defining characteristic of high end.

I'm sure it wasn't intentional. He must have had problems with submitting. Anyway, I've since deleted the extras.

No, they were there. I just got rid of them before you could blink.

Okay, no more edits of edits. It hurts to think. :rotfl:

Yes, sorry. It seems I ran into a database problem. All the links to Smartphonethoughts also disappeared, and when I tried to delete the duplicate posts it said I can only delete my own posts. It was very bizarre, like in the twilight zone 0X

:)

Gotta disagree here. I think it's processing speed and memory (then additional features) that defines high end. I chose a QVGA device over a 4700 because it offered more 2x as much memory. I'd rather have the memory space for storage and app space than a pretty VGA screen. You can say, "what a shame that the 2750 is QVGA", but on the other hand, you can also say "what a shame HP decided to cripple the 4700 with 64mb ram". Sure, things will change with WM5 but until it comes out, a 128mb with 520+ mhz is to be considered "high end".

Boy, that's alot of important compromises to make, just to get a vga screen.

VGA is low end. QVGA is dead.

I want SVGA or better on my 3.5" screen.[/b]

Ah, but people see it that way, which is one reason why Dell is doing very well in the PDA market, while HP has hardly grown at all. They always seem to mess it up by leaving out one important feature e.g 128Mb ram in the hp 4700 or a VGA screen in the 2750.

Sure, things will change with WM5 but until it comes out, a 128mb with 520+ mhz is to be considered "high end".Of course, there are several PocketPCs out there with 128MB RAM, a 520MHz+ CPU, AND a VGA screen. You're obviously just not looking hard enough. ;) You're not really high end without all 3 of those IMO.

I know many people think VGA screens are overrated, but once you've used one for more than a day or two, going back to a "LOOK AT MY GIANT PIXELS!!" QVGA screen is just plain painful.

Still.. back to the topic at hand.. the n50 Premium has one key thing IMO that most PocketPCs released recently (I'm looking firmly in your direction here, HP) are missing - aesthetics. It actually looks good.

High end or not, it's a pretty nice looking device. It has solid and above average performance technology.

Unless my iPAQ 5550 is unusable, I'll stick with it until the next generation i-Mates come out. All the PDA2 needs is VGA, more ROM (important for WM2005), better Bluetooth and I'm there! This should be no big deal for their next generation PDAs to satisify.

What ever happened to the IMHO precursor of old? ;-)
Whether or not a PDA has or does not have VGA is IMVHO totally dependent upon the screen size. ON my 2.8inch QVGA MDA Compact the resolution is as good as it need be and any higher resolution would be overkill.
I dont really care much about high end devices and am absolutely over the moon with my MDA Compact. All PPC's should be this size! Much better than my old iPaq 3650, 3870 and 2210!

In my opinion, all the complains you guys have about n50 not having a VGA screen is absolutely unimportant since the device is ONLY $350.

Also, n50 actually comes with more softwares and accessories than you think. Besides the things mentioned in PDAGold's review, n50 comes with an extra battery, REAL leather protective case, extra two-in-one stylus, MoneyTracer, PocketGenius, PaPaGO!V5.8, Handheld全功能軟體集, etc. in Taiwan. If you understand traditional Chinese, you can check out this page http://www.mobuy.com.tw/shop/product.asp?pid=10001639 There are some nice picture of accessories and things at the bottom of the page even if you don't understand Chinese.

n50 has impressive benchmark result for a device with 520mhz processor. If you're interested in details and pictures, you can find a very complete review of the device in chinese in http://www.mobile01.com/topicdetail.php?f=61&t=72679 The most incredible feature of the device is its storage card benchmark result.
