Problems with Windows Media Encoder
I've seen several articles that attempt to explain how to rip a DVD to WMV with Windows Media Encoder.
I've never been able to get it to work. Every time, on multiple computers, it fails shortly after starting the encode. The error pop-up complains of codec problems. According to the Microsoft website if Windows Media Player can play the file you have everything you need for codecs. These files are pretty straightforward MPEG2 files and play fine from one end to the other with WMP. On the other hand, DIVX files won't transcode either.
I was once able to transcode a small 500KB file but nothing larger.
Does anyone have any ideas.
Thank you,
