Default Zumobi, ZenZui's Zooming Interface, Now in Beta for Pocket PCs

http://www.zumobi.com/

"Get the information you need and the entertainment you want in snack-sized bites throughout the day by zooming through Zumobis widget-like Tiles. The Zumobi mobile content application provides a unique, lush, and engaging zooming user interface that makes it incredibly easy and fast to navigate through the content that you care about. Visit Gallery.Zumobi.com to choose from a great portfolio of news, travel, entertainment, games, and more. The Tiles you choose will be automatically sent to Zumobi on your phone so you can personalize your zoom space with the Tiles that are most interesting and relevant to you."

As we've covered before, a Microsoft-backed startup has been working on zoomable browsing on mobile platforms based out of technology initially developed at Microsoft. I think the idea is sound--linear approaches to presenting information on mobile devices is slow and cumbersome, and it's about time that someone tries an approach that uses all of the dimensions of small screens. There is a beta available as of late December that you can download and play with.

This software looks interesting, but for some reason it wants me to register, including my mobile phone number, before I can even view the FAQ. Personally, I want to read the FAQ to help me decide whether I want to register... still, something to keep an eye on.

Jeff, you can enter a bogus phone # and email and then get to the FAQ to read it.

Good point. Darn my honesty! :-)

Still, I don't think they should have it set up that way.

I'm honest to a fault- except where it comes to giving away my personal contact information to unknown websites - then I lie shamelessly!
