Default The Two Inch View's Look at Live Search for Mobile

http://www.twoinchview.com/134-live-search

"Microsoft has been growing their Live services lately, pouring effort into creating a suite of online services that will entice Internet users to take advantage of their offerings for search, email, location-based services, and many others. And theyre not just focusing on the desktop world: there are a rich assortment of Windows Mobile-based solutions for smartphones such as the Treo 750 and T-Mobile Dash. One such solution is Windows Live Search, software that recently came out of beta and is a free tool for finding things quickly and easily from your Windows Mobile smartphone (remember that Pocket PC Phone Edition devices are now called "smartphones")."

We've gone through Live Search for Mobile a couple of times already, but if you're after a more detailed look at the application, head over to The Two Inch View and check out the article written by our very own Jason Dunn.

I'd been meaning to download the Live client for my phone for some time now, and after reading this article, I just went to http://wls.live.com on my phone and downloaded it. Thanks for the reminder!

Live for Mobile is one of the best apps I've used to date. Even the quality of the images in aerial view is impressive. And the speed (in aerial view) is pretty decent on my MDA. I usually prefer Google, but their mobile map app still needs some work IMO.

This app has saved my butt a few times already.

A few weeks ago my wife's car broke down on the highway near a smaller town. She managed to get it limped to a parking lot to wait for me to get there. Of course in the rush i didn't think to grab my bluetooth GPS. After trying a few simple things it was time to find an auto parts store.. But was there one in this town? If so where?? And me with out my GPS... :*(

But wait! i installed that new live search thing! I fired it up and chose a new location to search from.. Wow they knew of this town! Great!. I typed auto in the search box and hit enter... BaNG! results. I mapped the store i wanted to go to, and zoomed the map out until i saw the highway.. now i know exactly where it is located.

After a few tries with simple part replacement it was determined that the car was not going anywhere... So 2 options.. Towing, or rent one of those car dolly things from uhaul... Is there a tow place here? or even a Uhaul for that matter??
Oh, live search?! Yep, here is the closest tow place and the phone number. Which i can call right from inside the app.

Hmm that is pricey.. oh look a uhaul place too and phone number! that is much cheeper. Map... drive.

I used live search many times that day. I was very glad i had installed it. Great app.
