Default WebIS Announces the Public Beta of FlexMail 2007 Rev 2

http://www.pocketinformant.com/Foru...showtopic=11039

"A few days ago we released a public beta of FlexMail 2007 on our forums. This release has had many months of very focused determined work on really making the best email client on any platform. We've had a lot of misses in the past on this but this time I think we got there. Part of the reason is we took some of our biggest critics and brought them in to our internal testing team. These guys hammered the software like a piece of steel being made into a sword. We got some very talented people on the Smartphone side as well that have allowed us to really polish the Smartphone side of the software very well... FlexMail 2007 Rev 2 is now up to the standard that Pocket Informant is known for throughout the Windows Mobile community. This is a public beta - while no known crashes exist, no known reliability issues exist - we really want your help in testing this software for final release. We've gotten a lot of positive feedback in the last two days; probably more than we've ever had before. So I'd like to make sure that we get all the cracks filled if any still exist. I say that with some trepidation because we all know software has cracks that sometimes only are found when we get enough people working on it."

Alex from WebIS tells it like it is. The upcoming version of FlexMail 2007 contains plenty of new features, bug fixes, and performance tweaks, but still requires a bit of polishing before being given the green light for a final release, so this is where you can jump in. Head over to the WebIS forums and learn how you can sign up for an account and get involved in the public FlexMail project.

I read that beta thread and I am very wary about re-installing it to my Treo 750. When using FM on my KJAM, it was very unstable. When I went to uninstall, I was no longer able to launch the default Mail/SMS app on the KJAM. There was a post by someone who was still experiencing this problem even with the latest beta.

Anyone considering installing this app should absolutely think 2x about doing it, especially if you still want the core function apps to work properly. That includes for us Treo owners, the threaded SMS messaging.

What WebIS should have done a long time ago is apologize to the people that purchased the original (and undeniably bug-filled) version of this program. There's a lot of angry folks that probably have lost faith in the program/programmers - you just have to read their forum to realize this. Being a long-time Pocket Informant user (and a brief FlexMail user) I was mostly dissapointed at the lack of quality on the original 2007 version. The only reasons why I may end up giving this new revision a shot are: 1) I already paid for the program, and was denied a refund, and 2) there's nobody else offering something similar.

Everybody havea great Sunday!

OK, well I tried the new version and it has a couple of nice features but it can't cope with a reasonable sized mailbox (around 300 mails).

It just hangs my T-Mobile Dash when I try to open it.

I played with it for a couple of weeks, seing how it went but it had 2 days left of the trial so uninstalled.......... you guessed it, same as the previous version it deletes the tmail shortcut leaving users without a mail client.

To fix this you have to recreat the tmail shortcut in \windows and link it to the tmail.exe

WebIs is a complete joke !!

Sad to hear this. I guess I won't be trying it out myself after all.
