Mobile Tech Reviews Reviews the HTC P3300 & XDA Orbit
"The HTC P3300 and XDA Orbit are the first devices manufactured by HTC to include both a mobile phone and GPS receiver. Manufactured under the name of the HTC Artemis, these devices have quad wireless (GPS, GPRS, WiFi and Bluetooth), an FM radio, 128mb of ROM, and an innovative rollerball-type navigation pad, and all of this is fitted into a package that is definitely pocketable. I wonder, how much HTC adds up in profits, selling devices with slow TI OMAP 210MHZ processors compare to powerful XSCALE 520 or Samsung 400 mhz processors? I think a lot, if they keep pushing them :devilboy:

Battery Life!!
I have a Jamin which was made by HTC. Jamin uses TIOMAP 210 processor. After I switched from ipaqs and loox, I found the battery life on Jamin was simply amazing. Even with phone built in, it beats my old pocketpcs handsdown. It was because the TI OMAP processor sucks way less power.

My JAMin has twice the battery life that my iPaq had. I'd much rather have a so-so processor and long battery life than a super-fast processor and little-to-no battery life.

And I am totaly agree with you, if you use your device mostly as a phone, with minimum use of aplications. But if you, as myself use heavy applications, plus a phone, you'd rather see your device work faster instead of watching that colorful circle spin in the middle of a screen. And believe me battery live long for about 12-18 hours, that is more than enough time to have a chance to recharge. :wink: (I use Mio A710, Intel 520Mhz processor)

dont believe the article. TI OMAP processors at 200 mhz are tripe; especially after you've installed a few programs onto your system. I'm actually amazed that the P3300 is running TomTom. I can easily foresee once you've installed a few programs that using TomTom will be excruciatingly painful.
An option for TI lovers could be to make an OMAP 400mhz processor.
As long as it had an aggressive scaling ability to speed up/cut back on the CPU, everyone will be happier for it.
