i-mate K-JAR Receives FCC Approval
"Without 3G, we're still not excited about it, but the i-mate K-JAR's four bands of GSM / GPRS coverage count for something, we reckon. The FCC apparently agrees, giving it its wholehearted stamp of approval -- and as is so often the case with our federal friends, the approval comes complete with a full spread of glamor shots and a user's manual."
Contrary to what's quoted above, the manual of the swivelin' K-JAR reports tri-band GSM/GPRS coverage, along with most of the other meager innards we learned from the October leak: a TI OMAP 200MHz CPU, 2.4" QVGA display (ouch), and ancient USB 1.1, Bluetooth 1.2, and 802.11b Wi-Fi connectivity. What is i-mate thinking?

What is i-mate thinking? The same thing that allowed them to design and build the pathetic creature that was the JAQ.
If this had quad-band, plus 3G, and a larger VGA screen, it might be interesting.

"what is imate thinking?"
1.Imate thinks that consumers DONT want any more advancement in technology.
2.Imate also thinks that there're a lot of fools who ll buy their 'really-underpowered' devices.
3.Imate thinks they'll put forward a ridiculous price and people will buy them
4.Imate wants to make normal and power users to feel that we no longer are a friend of 'creativity'

I-mate might consider to team up with T-Mobile USA, also a big promoter of underpowered devices, so they could actually sell a few of this relics :devilboy:

I like the form factor... I even like the QVGA because all my apps work with it.
But I have got to have quad band and something faster that the OMAP processor. My 8125 has one... While it is usable it is not always a joy to use.

Actually it is right side up if you are going to use the device in portrait mode. The display pivots like a tablet pc.
If you are talking about landscape mode then it is only of by 90 deg to the left. Still not upside down...
In the photo the screen my be upside down in it's current position but the base of the unit is right side up.
