iPaq 3950 and Wireless networking
I just picked up a Compaq 3950 with Windows CE4.2 on it and I'm having
some issues trying to figure out how to network this unit to my laptop via
the IR connection.
When I go to the connections tab and try to set up a new connection,
it gives me the options of using a Hayes compatible modem or Generic
IR. When I select IR, the settings won't let me get past the phone number
screen. There in lies the problem. I'm not dialing with the IR, I'm trying
to connect to the IR on my laptop but there is no option to configure the
port without a phone number and area code. And beyond that, it asks
for a login name and password, which are also not necessary.
Can anyone explain the process to connect this unit to any of my PC's
via the IR port? I know it's slow, but I have my reasons for doing this
and I'd like to make it work. Can the PPC be networked to any of my
PC's via the IR connection that will allow it to be assigned an IP address
and allow it to go on the web and access other network recources?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
