Sling Media Partners with Major Carrier?
"So said Blake Krikorian, CEO of Slingmedia, the company that makes TV and place shifting device Slingbox, at the Web 2.0 conference today...he was on a panel and mentioned that his firm has done some European deals to show place-shifted TV on mobiles there, but has tied up with a big mobile carrier here, and will announce it soon. That potentially puts it up against MobiTV, so some extent."

Well, hello. This is interesting. SlingPlayer Mobile has established itself as a very successful application on the Windows Mobile platform, with both Pocket PC and Smartphone users getting in on the action. And now it looks like one major US carrier will soon have their phones all Sling'ed up. There's no word yet on when it'll all happen and what sort of Sling / phone bundles there'll be, but just know that Sling could get a whole lot bigger in the not-too-distant future.

Here's betting its Cingular, or maybe T-Mobile. Isn't Verizon already dealing with MobiTV?
