Default External Antenna Hack For Axim x50v and x51v

http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/in...1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1

"Unfortunately, no consumer Pocket PC comes with external Wi-Fi antenna connectors and, as has been pointed out in many of my related articles, the same stands for Compact Flash / Secure Digital / MiniSD / microSD Wi-Fi cards. None of them is known for being able to be hacked either, as opposed to some "hackable" PCMCIA Wi-Fi cards. There have been some hacks for other devices; for example, the iPAQ 4150. They have been, on the other hand, using normally-sized connectors (ones that you can find in Wi-Fi access pointes with detachable antennas) and, therefore, really ugly (and making the headphones socket inaccessible). The x50v / x51v mod, however, is using a mini socket and, therefore, isn't very nice-looking. The x50v / x51v mod is completely different."

Werner "Menneisyys" Ruotsalainen has posted on this hack for the Axim x50/51 series that will allow you to hook up your Axim to an external WiFi antenna. Not bad for those of us with hard-to-reach Wifi (I.e. large houses, neighbors that recently moved the AP farther away from your house). If you're an Axim owner with a desire to hack, check it out.

I've been thinking about doing something similar for my Axim, though instead of an external antenna jack, I was thinking of hooking up a flexible 2 dBi antenna salvaged from a WiFi router. The external jack is tempting, though.

But aren't those for the cellular radio, not WiFi?
