Default 4WinMobile Reviews the Vodafone VPA Compact III v1605 (HTC Hermes)

http://www.4winmobile.com/viewtopic.php?t=3015

"The Hermes itself, or rather the Qtek v1605 as it is in this livery, at first glance seems to be a cross between the two hit devices of HTC's previous generation of Pocket PC's. With the exception of a VGA screen, the VPA specifications reads like the best features from the HTC Universal and the HTC Wizard... The questions on everybody's lips are, can a single device live up to the legacy of both the Wizard and Universal?"

This is a very thorough review with many of snapshots for all to enjoy. While the reviewer starts off initially unimpressed, with a little bit of time, he grows to truly love the device. Why? Read the review to find out!

I guess no frustration about microSD supported devices anymore, now its as big as miniSDs available, & as a 2GB miniSD user, I can say that 2GB is MORE THAN ENOUGH, although more will be even better, but there is plenty of room to store a whole lotta stuff on the Hermes..

The only drawback seems to be the battery life.

BTW, other users have reported exactly the opposite about the battery life. That is, the culprit may be the activated push mail (the reviewer didn't try to tweak it, according to his article), which keeps the CPU on all the time?

In the dopod 9000 version, it's a very solid and handsome device. Battery life is as good as I expected -- 30-minutes max for outlook, 30-45 minutes per day via UMTS 2100 (email, internet, rss) plus 10-15 minutes of voice calls... by 10pm it's still got 50% left. A minor bug in the battery meter (OmegaOne) is the discharging only shows in increments of 10%. Voice quality is excellent, data is quick, and even figured out how to take very nice quality photos that rival my old 2mp canon ixus. Now, I can leave the canon, my t610 and my trusty old h4150 behind... this is what convergence is all about.

cheers

That's indeed not very spectacular - compared to the Wizard (with the same usage, it'd stand at about 85-90%)...
