Sharepoint Services 2007 Supports Mobile Views, Pocket PCs
"One of the interesting new features in MOSS 2007 is the support around mobile devices. In this article, I�ll aim to give you a quick overview of how you can get the next version of SharePoint on your phone...Every list and library in MOSS 2007 or WSSv3 is capable of hosting �Mobile Views�. These are standard views of lists or libraries that an administrator has defined as being mobile enabled. You can also view individual list items in mobile form."
For those of us who have used Sharepoint (Or who are trying to convince an IT department / stubborn others to use Sharepoint), this tidbit of information on the MS Blogs really goes along way in helping us collectively while still being ultra mobile. What is your opinion of Sharepoint? Do you think having mobile access to it will increase your company's usage of it?

I think it was Steve Ballmer who proclaimed that SharePoint is the fastest growing product in Microsoft history!! It's absolutely HUGE in our corporation for document management, enterprise portal, and application web integration capabilities. I'm also convinced that both SharePoint and SQL Server (with both Analysis Services and Reporting Services) is helping to pull Microsoft into the true enterprise space as more than just a commodities provider of operating systems and office productivity tools.
I don't know if companies will be able to afford to ignore it for too much longer. There is simply a massive amount of 3rd party development going on with SharePoint and from our experiences, the user uptake has been phenomenal. We originally launched it as a pilot for one of our projects and the product literally just sold itself with very little support needed from IT.
Certainly, the mobile views help bolster the value to anyone who spends extended time in the field but still needs the collaboration capabilities of SharePoint.

I currently am in the middle of deploying our companies Sharepoint 2007 site (it's beta 2 but should be gold within a few months), and mobile stuff is working well. Sharepoint 2007 is light-years ahead of 2003. Seriously. I hated 2003 but 2007 is just awesome. The neat thing is we are also in the process of deploying Windows mobile devices (Treos) in conjunction with Exchange 2003 SP2, man the integration with everything is just beautiful, and now you add in sharepoint mobile access and I have a bunch of happy executives!

sort of offtopicish, but how did you guys find the rollout of Sharepoint? Its on our list of projects for this year, but I'm not looking forward to trying to get users to use "sites" instead of file shares etc. Was the training period long and hard?
