The New Maglite: Konica Minolta's Organic Mobile Display
I always thought LTPS TFT-LCD technology had awesome luminescence, but this new display from Konica Minolta just blows it away. Never mind a single room; this thing could light up your entire house. But the golden question: what's it like on battery life?

Being bright has one major benifit, the ability to easily view the screen outdoors. I've heard many people ask, "How can I view my PDA outdoors?", with the reply, "Turn the brightness up." Now with this shouldn't you be able to see your screen outdoors MUCH easier? With an ambient light sensor this could possibly be one of the best screen types for mobile devices.

With all the huge brains working on brighter screens, surely they could devote just a little lab time to making them dimmer as well. My old Casio E-115 was almost dim enough for nighttime reading at the lowest setting. No PPC since has been close, all being hard to read in a darkened room thanks to excessive brightness.

I apologise for taking this OT, and also if I'm stating the obvious but to respond to Gerard: I have had some success with using eReader in a darkened room by setting up the screen to have green text on a black background. That turns out to be reasonably kind on my eyes and has the added benefit of not disturbing my wife. I can't use Laridian's Pocket Bible for long in a darkened room because it doesn't let me customise the display in this way and the contrast between the bright screen and the dark room gets uncomfortable pretty quickly.

I use �Book partly for the same reason; a black 'paper' with blue text glows somewhat less painfully. However this helps only while reading in �Book, not while browsing, doing email, etc. I tried usiug a couple of 'tweak' apps years ago (Snoopsoft's 'Colour Me' and another which name I forget), but while changing global colours was nice at night, in daylightit was virtually useless.
