Cingular Releases the MSFP for the 8125
"Direct Push Has Arrived! Microsoft Direct Push from Cingular is a scalable and cost-effective wireless email solution that enables mobile professionals to easily stay connected to their Microsoft Outlook and Office information while on the go. Cingular's Direct Push service is designed specifically for companies with Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 interested in deploying wireless email on the Cingular Windows Mobile 5 portfolio."

As promised from the press release that was published a few days ago, Cingular today released the free MSFP update for the 8125. The download link points to HTC America, who is hosting the update. I've heard some interesting reports from our own readers and readers elsewhere that the ROM is incomplete, so install at your own risk (at least, until Cingular patches it). :|
Update 3:56PM MDT by Janak Parekh: SPT contributing editor Jerry Raia wrote in with the following response from HTC's PR folks about the corrupt download:
Quote:
As you know, Cingular launched Microsoft Direct Push Wireless Email today. One component of this launch was that customers would be able to download updated software for the Cingular 8125 from a link on the HTC America web site.

While HTC always try to get software updates to customers as quickly and securely, as with all technology there are occasional hiccups to the distribution timetable. Due to technical issues, this link was not working properly. As such we have removed the link from the HTC America site to correct the outstanding problem and so that customers would not download the software in error. HTC is working diligently to get this link working correctly and we continue to monitor this as a top priority.

Progressive service and customer care are always top of mind at HTC. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused and plan to have the update back up as soon as possible.
:| We'll keep you informed.

Update 7:28PM PDT by Darius Wey: The proper 50.1MB version appears to be up, alive and kicking. Go get it.

Not so fast...
It looks like the file is corrupt. We'll have to wait until somebody wakes up and updates it.
Also for those nervous about the upgrade, head on over to XDA-Developers, they'll have it dissected, cataloged, and test installed on quite a few devices within hours of the download being fixed.
Within 48 hours they'll have a tweaked custom ROM based on it with other nice enhancements courtesy of Summiter!

actually summiter tweaked this ROM a MONTH ago. This is the EXACT same ROM that was leaked by the Cingular employee a month ago. If you want this, just go to xda-developers and download it from that thread.

I updated with Summiter's ROM last month. I feel a lot safer with his stuff than with Congular's.

Apparently that file on the Cingular site has been sitting there corrupt for over a day now. It is only 39mb. It should be around 50mb in size. If you try to run it you just get a "corrupt file" message.

Everyone interested should email HTC at the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of the page.

So your saying that a ROM leaked last month is the SAME as was just released? How do you know they didn't make other changes? Even summiter said he wasn't going to do a whole lot to it until the final release was made.

the revision numbers are the same down to the point point revision.
radio stacks are the same down to the point point revision.
the file name you download is the same name....ending in SHIP no less.
any software developer worth his salt is going to follow proper versioning, and if they made any changes without incrementing the version number properly that would be piss poor shoddy code management.
its the same ROM, don't let any idiots try to convince you otherwise. Cingular got scooped on this one, plain and simple.
Summiter has already moved on to tweaking the 2.30 that tmobile released. now THAT rom has improvements over 2.25. But the Cingular rom at HTC is the exact same thing that i've had for a month.

The download link is gone from HTC America's web page (for the moment).
