Treo Hollywood Running... Windows Mobile?

In true "let's-not-reveal-too-much-about-this-unreleased-device" fashion, there are a couple of blurry, camera phone pictures floating around of an upcoming Treo codenamed, "Hollywood". To collect the facts (rumours?), we know that the Hollywood is a Windows Mobile 5.0-based Phone Edition that is UMTS-compatible, slimmer than the Treo 700w, lacks a protruding antenna, and equipped with a 300MHz processor, 64MB RAM, 128MB ROM, a 1.3-megapixel camera, and a 240 x 240 screen. And we just might see this one with Cingular.
Another visually stimulating blurry picture after the break.

These photos seem very suspicious to me, especially the second image. The profile bears a striking resemblence to that of the Blackberry, even the way it tapers off at the bottom. After the earlier amateurish hoax, taking a stock Treo 650 and painting it blue, I think someone may have Photoshopped a Blackberry with a Treo 700w.

True, but it also might be a crappy phone camera sneaking a few pictures situation. Especially with photos taken up close, you sometimes can get a warped affect like that.

That could well be. The first image clearly depicts an antenna-less 700w in a new paint scheme. While the second image looks like a thinner device with a tapered body.
Who knows. I strongly doubt the legitimacy of this product. I find it extremely unlikely that Palm would chop the antenna off a 700w/p, paint it a different color, and then market it as a completely new product. But then again, I said the same thing when the Tungsten T5 was introduced. 8O

Well they squirted a new OS (WM5) into a Treo 650 HW platform (basically - I know I'm simplifying a lot) and called it new!
Plus the really new thing about this model is GSM. The 700w was limited to US/Verizon users. GSM is US/Cingular, but also all oF Europe and most of Asia.
A Treo, running WM5 anywhere else but here on Verizon, would not only be new, it would probably be great for Palm to do!
IMHO.

To be fair, it wasn't exactly a stock 650: it completely lacked an antenna. Granted, it was probably a user mod, but it's not like it was entirely without cause for excitement.

This one could finally be interesting - if it's not another hoax.
UMTS, no antenna + slimmer design would make it a really interesting device, especially outside of the US.
But it's still not for me, 240x240 is just not good enough...

Finally! The GSM version! I really hope this is not fake (and that there will be an European launch too....)

Is there some kind of limitation, which prevents them from releasing a 480x480 device? 240x240 is a deal breaker for me as well.

Yes, the current limitation would be the battery.
