Default Gx5's Mobile Device Wallpaper (Themes) for Windows Mobile Devices

http://www.gx-5.com/products/mobile...apers/index.htm

"Gx5s mobile device wallpapers have been meticulously designed to give your home screen a new and refreshingly vibrant experience that will captivate and inspire you. We light up your home screen with the best nature has to offer along with precision tech like graphics that make your high tech mobile device stand out from the crowd."

We don't post on themes very often, but when we do I always make sure they're worth posting on - I've never heard of Gx5 before, but man do they have some nice device themes! Their Web site has a cool Flash preview tool so you can see what the themes looks like on different devices, including Pocket PCs and Smartphones. The theme pack costs $4.95. You should visit just to see the Web site, it's so tasty I feel like licking the screen! :P

Good to see some nice, tame backdrops that aren't so busy they completely obscure the text sitting on top of them. Too many of the user-contributor sites are full of themes like that (not to mention the general fixation on breasts and cars).

Yesterday I stumbled across some beautiful backdrop images that were shared on one of the Origami preview sites. I wanted to make backdrops for my Pocket PC with these, but once again I found I couldn't make a Today theme that didn't have nasty banding in it when viewed on the Pocket PC. I tried McDeb's theme making program, then switched to the KamWare app it's based on, because the KamWare one allows you to set a custom level of compression. I tried working with the original PNG files, then tried JPEGs, but even at the lowest level of compression and with VGA specified, the image banded.

Does anyone have a suggestion for making Today themes with images that aren't degraded on the device?

Cheers,

One technique I've found is that if you have PhotoShop or Paintshop you can reduce the colors to 16-bit with little to no banding. In my experience doing this makes the images look great on the PocketPC.

Jason, you said you don't post on Themes much...

Well I rarely buy themes either.... But I just did so we are even.

These look fantastic... nice $4.95 spent on a Friday in my book

For those of you are are considering, the price includes all the themes in all the various sizes (176x220, 240x190, 240x320,480x480,640x640)... not bad at all if you have multiple devices with different screen sizes

Did you get a bunch of jpg's as well? I realize it's fairly easy to set an image as the wallpaper on a Pocket PC, but I kinda assumed that I would be getting tsk files. :confused totally:
