ClearVue 3.0 Released and Available for 50% Off
Westtek has just updated their ClearVue applications to support Windows Mobile 5.0. Updated versions of the standard ClearVue Presentation, ClearVue Document, ClearVue Worksheet, ClearVue Image, and ClearVue PDF are now available. Also present are Professional editions which include all the features in the standard editions and a lot more.

If you think you might need more than one application, then it's worth checking out the ClearVue Office and ClearVue Suite bundles, which pack a good selection of the aforementioned titles at a discounted price. From now until December 31, Westtek is offering a nice discount on all of their software. Simply place the desired products in your Westtek shopping cart, select 'Gift Certificates', and enter the promotion code, 50HOLIDAY123. Select 'Recalculate' and you can enjoy a cool 50% off.

...a good opportunity for a shameless plug...
The Professional version of ClearVue Presentation now has editing capability, allowing you to create or edit PPT presentations on the device. All edits are "round tripped" meaning you can pull the edits back off the device and look at them in MS PowerPoint. We've never used any sort of ActiveSync filter or preprocessing step, so you'll have the ability to edit anything downloaded to your device over email, internet, etc.
Would love to get some early feedback on the Presentation Professional feature set from PPCT members.

The short story:
Brits ought to take note that this application doesn`t format A4 pages properly (as of six months ago at least - haven`t checked the latest version).
The long story: Checked out this app (mainly the one for Word) six months ago. Looked like the perfect app for me, so downloaded the demo to give it a whirl. Got lots of formatting errors on my Word docs - mostly price lists. Emailed customer service who were extremely helpful and communicative. Finally, they asked me to email some of my docs over to try for themselves. At this point got a swift reply of `Oh sorry, we don`t suport A4` (!!!)
Was amazed really.
Nice apps, nice company and support. When A4 is covered then I`ll be buying.

We have had some formatting issues with Word tables in the past, but there shouldn't be a problem supporting A4. Please send some docs to [email protected] and I'll take a look.

It depends upon the application. There is a little bit of version history on the right hand side of each of the product pages (on the website). Here is the summary (for the Professional version of the products):
ClearVue Presentation:
- Editing, including round-trip functionality
- Integrated printing and font support
- New help engine, updated user interface
ClearVue PDF
- Re-written from the ground up.
- Support for embedded fonts, custom color spaces, object clipping and drawing objects that weren't supported in the past.
- Support for encrypted files (currently the Adobe standard 40 bit version)
ClearVue Image:
- Enhanced editing functionality (many performance improvements)
- Added a TextArt feature to the image editor
- Integrated printing support and support for additional fonts
ClearVue Document and ClearVue Worksheet -
- Performance enhancements, new help engine and user interface
- Integrated printing
- Downloads common Office fonts

ClearVue Suite Professional v 3.0 Makes Mobile Printing a Reality on WM5
ClearVue Suite Professional v 3.0 has just made mobile printing a reality on WM5!- As a viewer ClearVue Suite Professional adds native viewing of desktop office files without additional software, ActiveSync, or conversion. (Its much quicker than opening up TextMaker or PlanMaker to view complex documents with charts and advanced formating).
- As a printer ClearVue Suite Professional offers WM5 support (the first AFAIK)
With native viewing and printing, mobile printing becomes a livable reality on WM5! Consider the competition:- HP Mobile Printing has been discontinued: "HP will discontinue HP Mobile Printing for Pocket PC and HP Mobile Printing SDK for Pocket PC, effective October 1, 2005".
- PrintPocketCE states that they have no current plans to add printing support for Windows Mobile 5.0 DOC & XLS file formats.
- PrintBoy for Pocket PC does not offer Windows Mobile 5.0 DOC & XLS printing compatibility either.
- ActivePrint TG, while a great printing option, still requires a desktop computer to print. (I use this in when printing from the desktop).
Notes:- ClearVue Suite Professional with my Canon i70 seamlessly.
- When comparing PrintPocketCE and PrintBoy for Pocket PC with ClearVue Suite Professional, it is clear that ClearVue Suite Professional does a better job of printing.

So does ClearVue PDF 3.0 support Chinese/Japanese in PDFs? 2.4.1 preinstalled on my Jasjar has foreign characters all garbled up.

The version of 2.4x that was bundled with my Dell X50v supported the VGA-out of the 2700G.
Was that a special version for Dell, or is that a standard feature?

That's a standard feature of the ClearVue applications.
