Default Plaxo and Pocket Informant Synchronisation Beta Test

http://www.webis.net/products_info....id=introduction

"Users of Microsoft Windows Mobile Pocket PCs can now participate in a beta test of the contact syncing capabilities of Mobile Sync for Plaxo, a new application program interface (API) from Plaxo, Inc. and Web Information Solutions (WebIS) for the Windows Mobile 2003 and Windows Mobile 5.0 personal information manager (PIM) platforms. WebIS will conduct the beta test throughout the December 2005 and January 2006 timeframe. To participate in the beta test, users can download a desktop installer. Users will be able to provide their feedback on their experiences through a users' forum."

If you've always wanted to stay 'connected' with Plaxo and Pocket Informant, now's your chance. Web Information Solutions has just announced a public beta test of WebIS Mobile Sync, a Plaxo service client that integrates with Pocket Informant on your Pocket PC. Additional details can be found here. The final version can be expected in early 2006.

Wohooo! Hope everything worked out smoothly. This would be an ideal method of syncing multiple devices as well as keeping an easilly accessable back up of all your data for all those non-Outlook users. It would be great if we could bypass a desktop and sync directly to Plaxo via wifi.

I really dislike having my email address in Plaxo's system. I don't respond to plaxo requests. It is not MY responsibility to update your address book and I don't want my email address in their system.

Just say no.

What will happen to my information if Plaxo is sold or acquired?
One of the unique provisions of the Plaxo Privacy Policy is the ownership rights it grants members regarding their information. As a Plaxo member, you have the right to access, update, and delete your information at any timeeven in the event of a merger or acquisition.

Our privacy policy states that if we plan to use your information in a manner different from the manner stated at the time you joined Plaxo, you would have a choice as to whether or not we use your information in this new way. Plaxo will proactively notify you by sending an e-mail to your primary e-mail address and providing a reasonable amount of time for you to respond, typically 30 days. If you do not agree with the new policy, you will retain the right to completely delete your information from our service.

If we are unable to notify you because you declined all member communications, we will assume that you do not wish your information to be used in the new manner, and the information will continue to be used only under the conditions originally agreed upon.
Ok, is it just me or did they answer the question with a non-answer to the question?

Woe to you if AOL buys Plaxo. ukeface2:

I'm not sure. I'm still stuck on this loopy sentence.

I am not sure if it was a setting I missed, or because I am also running VZW Wireless Sync, but the WebIS client just duplicated almost all of my contacts.

In a world of every changing contact information, I think it is a valuable service. There has always been a delicate balance between privacy and convenience/service. The reality is, for most people, the information sitting in Plaxos servers is already out on the Internet. It is scary how much personal information is accessible through Google, Zabbasearch and others. At least with Plaxo, you get a notification that it is out there.
