Default Egress 2.40 Released

http://www.garishkernels.net/egress.html

Egress, a mobile RSS reader, has just been updated to v2.40 (a list of updates can be found below). A free trial version can be downloaded from Handango, with the full version available for $12.00. [Affiliate]

Wizard buttons during New Channel no longer lost after authentication dialog for synchronized channel
 Improved web caching logic
Properly handle relative URLs for images within feed
New channel wizard now prompts for caching enclosures
Item titles are no longer truncated when item expanded when item title truncation is selected
Added menu option to item tap-and-hold menu to copy URL of item to the clipboard
Position within channel no longer "lost" when item is clipped
Email item includes URL in email body rather than .url attachment
 Corrected registration error message
Added an actual Exit menu option (<ctrl><Q> also works)
Added toolbar icon to mark all items read (in the current channel)
Maximum web caching depth reduced to 2
Corrected parsing of feeds which use non-US codepage
Items retrieved when a channel has been added will now have their images downloaded automatically. Previously only items retrieved after the channel was added would have their images cached
Fixed bug where Egress would inhibit sleep for PocketPC after item retrieval failed due to no connectivity with automatically connect disabled

with all those RSS readers now available, which one stands out ahead?

One thing: it looks like RSS feeds mostly represent a partial text of an article, often being the first part thereof (as opposed to full, condensed). One still has to connect to the website to get the whole story.

Have I observed this correctly? Did I miss some setting? Has it changed since I last tried an RSS reader?

I bought a copy of Egress about a year ago v2.1 and use it every day. It was one of the best at the time but is there anything better available now?
There is also nothing on the Egress web site regarding updating an existing version - does anyone know if updates for existing owners are available?

You should be able to upgrade for free. It's a .x release and the developer's really good about upgrading.

I've been using Egress since 1.x and I think its a great product.

As to the amount of the content, thats not a limitation of the Reader or the format. Thats a decision of the publisher. For example, if you subscribe to Groklaw you'll get all of it. And I mean all of it. 8O

Default Why Egress stands out

One reason I purchased Egress was its ability to syncronize with Bloglines. It would update articles I had already read via the Bloglines website so that I was only looking at new posts when I used Egress on the Pocket PC. I have been very happy with it.
