HP Releases iPAQ hx4700 Firmware Update for ROM Version 1.10
"Fixes issue where the handheld fails to reconnect with a WPA-TKIP encryption network. Fixes issue where the handheld is unable to connect with a WPA-PSK encryption network with Cisco access points. Fixes issue where 'Turn on flight mode' option is not available under the Connectivity pop-up window. Fixes issue where the sound quality of a recording is not normal after an alarm event. Fixes issue where a third-party audio application stops responding."
Looks like HP has released a firmware update for those of you who have upgraded to ROM version 1.1 or purchased an hx4700 with ROM version 1.1 already installed. The list of fixes appear to be short - mostly catered towards WiFi and audio/recording-related issues. As for me, I never did upgrade to the new ROM due to various issues I had heard throughout the boards. Can someone who has tried this report back with results?

Painless install (no hard reset) and working for me the last few days. Similar reports from users on the Brighthand forum as well.

Good here too
Worked fine for me as well. Now I'm just hoping the next ROM update is the WM5 one. (Although I don't mind these xip updates.)
edit: woah, and for anyone who cares, this is one 1337 post.

Re: Good here too
Perhaps it's time I finally updated my ROM to v1.1.

From the Urban Dictionary:
"1337
Once used by the hacker community as sort of a sub-culture language, ANYONE using this type of speak in the present day in age is either:
A) A clueless net newbie who somehow thinks its still "cool" to speak this way.
B) A veteren net user who uses it to parody the type of people mentioned in example A."
I ain't sayin' nuthin'! 8)

It worked fine for me. Only thing I've noticed is that it connects to my home wifi now within 1-2 seconds. It used to see all of my neighbors' wide open wifi's and wait for a bit, prompting me to try to connect to those. Then after awhile, it's like it would say, "Oh, okay, I guess I'll go ahead and connect to the one you really wanted to in the first place."
Glad they're at least supporting the machine at some level and putting updates into ROM. Beats the situation with my old 5555 that my wife uses now: like 5 or 6 patches I would have to re-apply if I ever need to hard-reset it.

If it were "cool", shouldn't that be "n00b"?
Anyway, largely off-topic here.

Hmm... I just hard-reset, reinstall my apps and go. No patches needed. On a 5550. But then my wifi's rather old so I may have intentionally ignored some of the lesser (imo) patches on the hp site.
