Default Mobile Tech Review on The iPAQ 6515

http://www.mobiletechreview.com/iPAQ-6515.htm

"What would you do if your first foray into QWERTY phones turned out to be a dud? Well, that was the dilemma that HP faced when they introduced the 6300 series QWERTY phone. Having launched it to a number of big players it soon gained a reputation for poor performance and serious reliability issues. It was quickly pulled from the shelves. HP took it on the chin, had a chat with their friends at HTC in Taiwan and came back with a bit of a winner."

If the 6515 has been a phone of interest to you, you're probably going to want to check out the review at Mobile Tech Review. Nice pictures, including some taken with the device, accompany this nicely written piece. Enjoy.

Hi
Are you talking about the 67xx series?
the 65xx series has been around a few months already..?
good design due to its flip cover, so no cover needed. I've seen alot of people buying it at the telco companies the past couple of months.

No, the review is based on the hw6500 series. It's true that it has been released for a few months already - but not worldwide. I know of many people in the U.S. who are still having a tough time getting their hands on one.

oh..ok...I always thought the US gets all the cool stuff first...
where I come from , we only have the camera version. I know in the UK, they actually sell a non-camera version also which is good for people who have camera restrictions at their work place...
the 6515 is really quite a nice pda to hold. its fatter than the treo 650 but made up for it by the colours of the button which gives it an elegant feel plus its light. overall, if I need to buy a pda phone, this fella comes closest to what I want...
cheers

Actually, when it comes to PPC Phones, the US usually gets the cool stuff relatively last. Our carriers are, IMO, way too concerned with targeting the casual-user / teen market with ringtones, MMS messages, and other junk that those with serious work-related needs couldn't give a *!*! about. Someday our carriers will realize cell phones aren't toys, but until they do, we're forced to import.

He he, not even close. The US is usually far behind Asia when it comes to cutting edge equipment. If we get something cool at all, it is usually well after countries like Japan, China and Korea have it or a model or capability similar to it, especially anything related to wireless phones.

I have played with this phone qute a bit and found that there are a few things that I really like about it and other bad things that outweigh the good. It comes with a flip style screen protector that reduces the size compared with a smartphone that needs to be carried in case. The keys are far enough apart that you're not always hitting the wrong key. Probably the worst thing about this for me is that as a phone it is too wide and uncomfortable to hold as a phone (good thing it has bluetooth). Also, I don't like the joystick style navigation because it will get caught on things.

true...but it has to be this wide to accomodate the bigger screen.
otherwise it will have the same screen size as the O2 Mini and correspondingly, the keys will be much closer together..
