Itunes ripoff even though it's free
Okay I am more than a little narked by this:
l use Itunes to organise all my music and to listen to American music. This is a free download and it is in Itunes interests for me to have the latest version.
I use Quicktime on occasion and there are some features available in the pro version which were useful enough that I bought it (with real money too)
So, today Itunes offer me an upgrade which I decide to download since it is free and I use it. And here is where I have a BIG issue.
During the install it prompts me to install Quicktime for which I will have to Pay to reown the Pro version.
Why should I have to pay extra to keep the Pro version of software I have paid for (and do not require an upgrade for) in order to obtain a free upgrade for free software which was offered to me when I opened the program.
I am really angry about this!! Does anyone know a way round this or who I can complain to?
Thanks for listening to my rant (good job you cannot post podcasts  )
TIA
Giles

I too hate the way iTunes and Quicktime are bundled for the reverse reason, I want to install Quicktime on my computer but I don't want iTunes.
Anyway,
Can't you install iTunes and then reinstall your Quicktime Pro over the version of Quicktime installed with iTunes?
It is a shame that it needs to be done at all.
Have you tried contacting Apple?

That's available -- just look carefully on the download page.
Hrun -- I think Mark's advice is sound...

Thanks for the advice.
It states quite clearly during the install that if I continue and install quicktime I will have to pay again for the pro.
Obviously I declined the install prompt at which point it aborted the Itunes install.
Therefore I have to pay for software I have paid for and do not wish to upgrade in order to have a free upgrade of a free product.
I am still pished about this
