Preview of the Qtek 9100 (HTC Wizard)

Dutch site, Pocket PC-Club, has posted a quick review of the HTC Wizard. After reading some posts from previous threads, it became apparent that a lot of you thought the 200MHz OMAP 850 processor was somewhat of a concern, but according to the review, there's little to worry about. And sure, the device is a little thicker than the HTC Magician, but with a slide-out keyboard, I ain't complaining.

Thickness Approx 25% thicker than the JAM so about 2.3 cm (JAM is 1.81 cm). This is the same as the Treo 650 that I have at the moment. A bit fat but quite pocketable.

EDIT: no need to rely on my calculation as this info is in the the article - perhaps I should have read it before posting

			 200mhz?

Whats the deal with the low powered CPUs coming out. I don't except the power argument, because with WM5.0 we'll get a power boost.

 | Indeed. Watching the awful speed results of the ipaq 6310 (yes, sure, it works with the normal "office" apps, but if you want anything more i.e. games, movies, emulation etc.,...), this won't be my device.

You know my next sentence, don't you?

Out of interest.... with all these pictures coming out, does this mean that the device itself is going to be with us soon?

Expansys (UK) already have it as a 'pre-order' item - so is there a committed or even provisional delivery date?

They set one of those pages up pretty much as soon as they hear of a device - they probably haven't even put in an order themselves yet (one Pocket PC was availabe for pre-order for nearly two years - before they removed it without ever having offered it for sale). |

While Expansys can often be a good, fairly safe source for hard to get items, they have, shall we say, a broad interpretation of what "in stock" means |
