Hardware Zone Reviews the BenQ P50
"Originally scheduled for launch in the fourth quarter of 2004, the eagerly awaited BenQ P50 is finally retail ready and positioned to go against the world's leading names in the PDA Phone business. Judging by the specs, the delay could well have been worth the wait because the P50 is promising to bring a lot to the table, particularly in the key aspects of connectivity, functionality, styling and usability. Now, although the BenQ name is not as established as many of its European rivals for communication devices, the Taiwanese company has nevertheless made huge advances in many of its product divisions, particularly its optical disc drive (ODD), notebook computer, projector and portable audio player divisions."

Hardware Zone has posted a lengthy review of the BenQ P50. For what it's worth, it may well deserve the 4.5/5.0 rating, but how will it fare against all these upcoming Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC Phone Edition devices? You be the judge.

WM5 would be good... And maybe VGA... oh wait, that is HTC Universal...
Seriously, it would (almost) be a killer device with WM5. But without it... I would not buy it.

wasn't this device released too late, what's new about this device that would make it comparable to the h6700 or 6500? or not to mention the universal?
and without wm5 it's just as well be a r17XX. 0X

I think it would have been a great device - but the lack of EDGE really kills it for me. Ah well, the Wizard should be out in a few months, I can wait until then for my perfect device

It's been argued that the P50 is all a case of too little, too late - I was and still am a firm believer of that. Granted - it's still a very capable device, but there are other devices out there which put more on the table.

Anybody know where it can be purchase for $650.00. The comments on the hardware zone article only point to a mall in Singapore....I'm still tempted, but not for the $920.00 Expansys wants...
