Default Compal Releases New GPS Pocket PC

http://www.akihabaranews.com/en/news_9925.html

Akihabara News is reporting that Compal (one of the world's largest OEMs) has released a slick new GPS Pocket PC with the following specifications: Intel XScale PXA263 300MHz CPU, Windows Mobile 2003SE, SD/MMC slot, IrDA, and USB. No real additional information exists besides that, but Akihabara News sure has some nice looking shots of the device. Check it out!

Not a new one I'm afraid - first came out in Russia in July 2004 as the Palmax Z710 - see here: http://www.mobile-review.com/pda/rev...-z720-en.shtml

PPC Thoughts reported on it a year ago (I only remember because I sent in the link to the review...! ) - http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/foru...ghlight=palmax

Looks like the specs remain identical.

Maybe I said this last year, but... great to see a Casio-like button layout! Too bad about a) no CF slot, b) butt-ugly shell with too-sharp corners, and c) WHOA, get a load of that honkin' huge antenna!

Yeah, I'd love to see a return to the Casio D-pad myself. You and I go a long way back with our old Casios, Gerard.

The big question is though, whether that D-pad can perform like the "old-school" Casio D-Pad.
