Laplink Software's Laplink Controller for Pocket PC Review
"One way that I have learned to save time and avoiding picking up the stylus regularly is to have my Windows Mobile display on my laptops screen via Laplink Softwares Laplink Controller for Pocket PC. Controller is a client application that allows users to have their device screen displayed on their PCs display. Beyond just a remote display, Controller allows for users to interact with their device with their mouse and keyboard instead of touching the device directly. Users can also configure Controller to mimic hardware buttons and can create script to automate tasks on their device. Controller even allows users to take screenshots of their device including skins resembling their devices as well as create videos of interaction with the device. All of this functionality at a price of under $30 makes Laplink Controller a great value and one of the best remote desktop applications available for Windows Mobile users."

Clinton Fitch has put together a fantastic review of the Laplink Controller. Despite the initial W?BIC! appearance of these solutions, they've become quite popular and Clinton certainly seems impressed with the Laplink solution. Anyway, check out the review and let us know what you think! Do you use remote solutions for your PocketPC? How does this compare?

Maybe...
They are OEM'ing the product from Soti and reselling it. That's what it looks like to me.

If you do reviews and require screenshots, remote control apps such as this are an excellent way of getting those screenshots onto your desktop with minimal efforts.

Free Remote Control Software
You can download a free solution from Microsoft here
It doesn't have all the features of the Laplink software, but if all you need is basic remote control, it works fine.

I was lucky enough to be given a free copy by Laplink (Long story). It is a OEM version of Pocket Controller. BUT that doesn't make it a wonderful product.
I use it's more or less open all of the time on my desktop. I'm going to buy a 2nd copy soon.

I have been using Pocket Controller for some years now and have found it excellent for copying/pasting between PC and PDA and synchronising SD files with the PC. Highly recommended.

Laplink & Loox720
Beware if trying to use the Laplink s/w with the Loox720 - It doesn't work, & I'm currently waiting on hearing how long it will take to raise a patch to fix it [Strangely, & it's not been explained to me why it could possibly be - the time-limited test version was fine!].
