Default PocketNow Reviews the Upcoming NextLink Bluespoon 5G

http://pocketnow.com/index.php?a=po...=reviews&id=643

"Nextlink has always been an innovator when it comes to Bluetooth headsets. Their Bluespoon headsets have always been the smallest of their time. Even their original Bluespoon headset is smaller than most current headsets from other manufacturers. With the Bluespoon 5G, Nextlink has once again outdone themselves. The 5G trumps Nextlink's previous smallest headset (the Bluespoon AX). The Bluespoon 5G is the lightest and smallest Bluetooth headset ever. The technology used here must be so far beyond anyone else. I don't see the competition catching up anytime soon."

These are the long-anticipated super tiny microscopic Bluetooth headsets from Nextlink. Personally, I prefer having a long boom microphone so that people know I'm not talking to myself, but I know I'm in the minority. If you prefer the smaller designs, then they don't get any better than this. Unfortunately, it appears that in order to produce such a small headset, sacrifices had to be made to the battery design and the recharge mechanism. Read all about it and let us know what you think!

$399 is an INSANE price point for this device.

That's a lot to pay for basically bragging rights on the smallest of devices. I had the AX ($79) for a while and it was a good headset the small size was somewhat of a detriment to the device. This is even smaller. And without any advances such as battery life improvement or noise reduction I think you are much better off buying 6 or 7 cheapo bluetooth headsets before you plunk your money down on this!

I'm a big proponent of the AX - I have 2 of them and they are great. Having said that, I paid $69 for each. I can't imagine paying 5-6 times as much for something that is only marginally smaller, and has slightly better sound quality. They'll have to come up with a more realistic pricepoint or they will only attract very early (and rich) adopters.

PURCHASING
While the Bluespoon 5G is not available to the public just yet, Nextlink plans on selling the product in small quantities at $399 through their website and other retailers including Pilcon. You may also be able to find some prototypes on eBay. One has already sold there for over $1900 USD! If you're really looking to spend some money, you can contact Nextlink, have them send you a 5G cover, embed a couple diamonds at your local jeweler, send it back to Nextlink and they'll build one with your custom cover. If you have to ask how much that will cost, you probably can't afford it.
Wow... Thats all I can say....

I own one of these 5Gs, but I also received quite a bit of a discount for being part of the beta test, in which the 5G will be updated to or replaced with the finished version.

I'm in the process of testing the 5G, and it's not just marginally smaller than the AX, it's MUCH smaller. The batteries don't last a real long time but the 5G comes with four, so it's alright. Nextlink is searching for better batteries and once located, will provide them to us beta testers for free, which is a good thing.

I like it because it's incredibly small, light, comfortable to wear and fits in either ear. I'm not interested in wearing some huge, clunky, dorky lookin thing just so people can see I'm not talking to myself  I don't really care if they think I am. The way I see it, if they can't see a black piece of plastic in my ear, that's their problem. But each to his own. For me, the lighter and sleeker, the better.

Sound is good, and I don't have any problem with the buttons. But I'm still in testing so I'll have to give it more time to come to some solid conclusions about sound quality and consistency in terms of use.

As far as the price is concerned, Nextlink isn't planning on making 100,000 of these things. Although they may opt to make more, their plans are to only produce 1000. Not to mention, they're handbuilt and absolutely state of the art, so you're going to pay a premium for that.

So far, I'm lovin it!
