Samsung and Card Guard Take Mobile Health Monitoring One Step Further
"Card Guard said its PMP4 suite of products measure and transmit medical data via a Bluetooth wireless technology card inserted into an SD I/O slot of a handheld device, which can then upload this information to a dedicated web-based medical center. The suite includes an ECG heart monitor, lung function Spirometer, Pulse Oximeter, blood pressure devices and an SD I/O blood glucose monitor, which can be used in conjunction with Samsung's i700 device."
This is really neat. It's great seeing Pocket PCs being used in more ways than one in the medical profession. For all you medicos, are you using a Pocket PC to help in your work?

I'm a pediatrician in private practice, so won't be using those fancy technologies. I still use the HP 2215, upgraded to 128 mb by Pocket PC Tech, so no wifi and can't even use bluetooth for anything. So I use my PPC to look up medications with Epocrates (checking formularies in some cases and give patient an idea of the cost of the drugs), to store lots of medical information, several reference books and also an ICD-9 reference to code the diagnoses.
Of course my contact files have all the hospitals, specialists that I need, ewallet stores alot of sign-in info for websites and reference sites, and I use Handbase to keep records of all the phone calls I receive at night when on call.
I'm just waiting for the i-mate jam to be available with T-Mobile when my contract needs renewal, then I might switch to that. Thinking about using e-scripts which will send prescriptions directly to pharmacies, and check formularies on the fly.
We docs need entertainment at times, so I listen to mp3's while playing games when I'm waiting in line or for restaurant seats.

I thought Card Guard was that x-shaped SD card holder that you velcroed to the back of your device. :confused totally:

Yeah, Epocrates is great! I use it day and night - it's just such a valuable resource. :way to go:

I'ld hate to be the first people to have to explain the sudden flatlines are because of PPC lockups though
*clear!* But sir I was just soft reseting my *ZAP*
In all great to kinow they have this kind of stuff out there. I like how they constantly are blending new technologies into exisiting platforms.
