Default Online Phone Magazine Previews Nextlink.to Spider Bluetooth Headset

http://www.phonemag.com/index.php/w...spider_eyewear/

"Nextlink.to is soon to announce a new Bluetooth product. The new product is an advanced headset since it gives the user possibility of using in different applications. <...> The Spider is a combination of a Bluetooth stereo headset and a typical Bluetooth cellular phone headset. This gives the user possibility of connecting to a Bluetooth enabled cellular phone and/or MP3 player or any Bluetooth stereo streaming device."

Ok. So maybe you're not that excited about HP's BT stereo headphones and maybe the Bluetake i-Phono that I posted on yesterday isn't rocking your world either. I can't blame you. While both have their charm, they both inevitably show their "1st generation" side as well. Now hopefully Nextlink is on to something with their yet-to-be-released Spider design. The prototype is somewhat reminiscent of the Oakley Thump, except instead of integrated MP3 player, this Spider device would connect to a range of BT-enabled PDAs and/or mobile phones.

Now, before anyone makes comments about either the sunglasses (which I admit could get easily confused with some sunglasses I've seen my mother wear) or the prospect of having to wear sunglasses just to use the device, it appears from reading the article that the sunglasses themselves might just be a prototyped accessory and not the actual Spider itself. In that case, the Spider would be a much smaller component that can be worn or attached in a multitude of ways. Very cool! :way to go: Ok folks, hit me with your thoughts!

If the glasses are an accessory cool... if not I wouldn't touch those things. I don't want any to have to wear tinted glasses to use any bluetooth device.

Other than being really ugly, what are the shades for?

If the shades are indeed an accessory, then they're being used as part of a "proof-of-concept" with the purpose being to show how the spider could be attached to a pair of glasses.

Though I'm not completely certain whether these are accessories or not. The article seems to suggest they but that point is somewhat vague.

Looks nice. If the price is right I will get one. Atleast its way better looking than HP's Bluetooth stereo headphones. Hopefully Nextlink would put a standard 3.5mm jack there so we can use our regular short earphones.

I doubt that it would come with the glasses though (which I don't mind - I have seen worse) and Nextlink has proven themselves many time in creating extremely small bluetooth headset so I would not be surprised if the final product is just a small module that clips to one's glasses.

I know this is just a concept, and I completely support Nextlink, but you'd think they could use better sunglasses to represent their concept.

Those are the dorkiest lookin' shades I've ever seen. Like a cross between what you'd see Charles Nelson Reilly wearing and those shades you see older people wearing after they've had their eyes dilated. Guess they thought this wasn't enough - so why not add in a couple of dorky logos for good measure?
