Default ThemeMaker McDeb 4 Reviewed

http://pocketnow.com/index.php?a=po...=reviews&id=568

To me my Pocket PC is a real PDA, with the word "personal" coming first. And I like to reflect that by adding some personalized content to my Pocket PC. That's why I hardly ever use the standard themes that all Pocket PCs have, but have always created my own themes. The application I currently use to do just that is ThemeMaker McDeb since I really like all options it gives you. And I'm not alone in that. On pocketnow.com, Russ Smith reviews this application, and it apparantly has converted him from using standard themes to his own themes as well. So check out the review if you want to learn more about this product. And if you're interested: don't forget the exclusive discount McDeb is offering to Thoughts readers, and which is still valid until February 14!

That's a nice review of an app that I've been debating whether I should purchase or not. I rarely have time to just try out apps until the actual time comes in which I need it... so seeing this review with all the screenshots was helpful.

One thing I wondered about was one of the cons the reviewer mentioned regarding the inability to do separate pans for portrait and landscape. I would have thought that was a limitation of today's WM devices and not something that ThemeMaker McDeb would have any control over.

You are correct, the limitation is caused by the design of the theme file format as I know it. There is only one image for the main screen and it has to share space with both landscape and portrait modes and they overlap.

There is an explaination in the program and this link is the page from that help file www.thememaker.biz/mcdeb/sizes.htm.
