Default FotoField: New Picture Management For Pocket PCs With Camera

http://www.fotofield.com/indexen.html

A major problem most people with most digital cameras today is classifying the millions of pictures they inevitably take. Personally, I just throw up my hands and keep all but the most obvious ones, and lump each "event" into a single folder. Fortunately, people are working on solutions to come up with rapid categorization of images not after-the-fact, which takes forever, but rather as you take them. FotoField integrates with a camera-enabled Pocket PC and does exactly this.

The current version runs using .NET for both the desktop and Pocket PC portions, and works with a HTC Himalaya (better known as the XDA II/MDA II/i-Mate). Obviously, this solution is not going to work with professional camera photos, but it might be purveyor of the future when we have truly smart cameras or high-quality-camera PDA phones. I haven't used it, but if you play with it, let us know what you think.

Hello Thanos255,
thank you for trying to install fotofield.
about your cab error is because you'll need:

- OpenNET CompactFramework (OpenNETCF.SDF.PPC3.ARM.CAB)

- .NETCompactFramework (netcf.all.wce4.ARMV4.CAB)

installed on your pda.

I know its quite complicated, but in few hours, we'll have a unique setup file.
Please, tell me what you think once installed. Or send me a private message with your email so i can send you these cab files.

Hello Thanos255,
thank you for trying to install fotofield.
about your cab error is because you'll need:

- OpenNET CompactFramework (OpenNETCF.SDF.PPC3.ARM.CAB)

- .NETCompactFramework (netcf.all.wce4.ARMV4.CAB)

installed on your pda.

I have net installed on my pda, half my programs use it already.

Anyway I will post again once you get that unique setup operating and let you know how it works.

Thanks for your quick response. Keep it up.

Anybody know how to get the OpenNETCF.SDF.PPC3.ARM.CAB? When install use the SDFSetup12.msi, it keeps telling me that I have to install VS.NET 2003 and .NET CF.

Is it necessary to install VS.NET 2003 to use the application? If yes I think it will be a great barrier to user. I don't think any common user would install such application in their PC...

hello,
for the PCDesktop side its necesary to have the .NET framework. Just using windows update you can get it.
by the other hand, for pda side you'll need .net and opennetCF.
Actually we're are working in putting OpenNET inside the same installer. so the suer just need .net from microsof that is a usual update to run many programmes for your pockepc.

You're right, now is a big barrier, but we're working hard to make it easier.
By the way if you need the cab's for installing it into your pda, send me a private and i'll send them to you.

thanks for your comment
