Default OQO palmtop gets a release date

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2004/09...o_launch_date/

Quote:
OQO's Model 01 Windows XP palmtop has for some time been due to ship this autumn, but the company has now narrowed that timeframe down to mid-October.

According to an email sent out by OQO, the device will be formally launched on 14 October in San Francisco.
I know a lot of people have been anxiously awaiting the release of this device, and it looks like it might come sooner than later.

It's a little out of my price range for what would essentially be an overpowered PDA... but still very cool.

Nice to see that the OQO is back in the news. It would be interesting to see how the competition of PDA vs OQO develops over time. In fact, it'd be interesting to see whether there would be much competition between the two. Both are essentially portable devices, but on one end of the scale, you have portability/performance, and on the other end, you have price. You can begin to question whether people would rather purchase a notebook than an OQO. The target market for both devices are very variable, and I'm anxious to see what the next year or so has in store for us.

Actually, it would be kinda nice to see how the OQO will compare against the Sony U50/U70 (I believe)?
