Default .NET Compact Framework Tips and Tricks

http://www.bostonpocketpc.com/modul...order=0&thold=0

Don Sorcinelli, BostonPocketPC.com, has made his ".NET Compact Framework Tips and Tricks" presentation and samples available in Powerpoint and source code. These are some of the tips:

  • Test Your Internet Connection
  • Replacing Smart Minimize Button with Close Button
  • Enable or Disable the Soft Input Panel (SIP) and Resize Forms
  • Call a Function in a Native DLL From the Compact Framework
  • Get the OpenNETCF Smart Device Framework
  • Write to the Windows Mobile Registry
  • Copying Files to a Device Emulator

Don also provides a nice list of valuable tools and sites with more information. One of the pages Don links to is the .NET CF FAQ. Don't miss it!

Very true - the "Tip" on PocketOutlook inthehand is based on the non-freeware .NET CF library. Unfortunately, I did not capture that fact in my speaker notes for the Powerpoint presentation (I did put forth the URL for inthehand). When I presented this content at the Windows Mobile Developer Day event in Boston, I did point this fact out. In fact, I mentioned it in the context that -

1) There is a tremendous amount of activity in the .NET CF libraries and controls market, contrary to what a number of .NET developers currently think;
2) This was an incredible example of a .NET CF library that is well worth the minimal investment, especially if you need to integrate POOM functionality into your .NET CF application

My deepest apologies if anyone encountered any issues regarding this.
