Default Dedicated .NET Smart Device Controls Site

http://www.pocketpccontrols.com/

I am happy to see the birth of this new developer oriented site. PocketPCControls.com is a dedicated site for .NET Smart Device application developers. They offer quite a few controls including a pie chart control, bar chart control, data entry validation controls and so on.

If you are involved in a development project, a visit to this site might save you hundreds of hours.

I assume these are freeware components? Or is this a commercial site?

Why would you assume freeware components? These are commercial components but come as close to freeware as you can get. The certified Bar Chart Control w/design support costs only $39.95. 8)

I was hoping they were freeware as well. As a programmer, I'm pretty unwilling to shell out $ for code I could write myself. The exception for me is if the vendor has done something for me that I cannot do (written code in eVC and wrapped it, for example). As for the posted site - $40 for a bar chart control? That seems quite high to me especially with the small feature set. Then he wants another $40 for the two other charting controls. For $40 I would definitely expect all 3! There are a lot of resources out there with free code for the compact framework and people know it.

That said, I'm sure some of the controls could be useful to folks on a tight timeline.

Most professional developers charge from $50 to $200 per hour in commercial application development projects. $40 is not even an hour worth of work. If you can provide me with the equivalent code under an hour and provide support for it, then I will hire you.

If you need to produce a bar chart in your application and a 3rd party control has the feature set that is nescessary to do what you need it to do, then buying is better than building 99 of 100 times.
