		| PHILADELPHIA, PA (May 10, 2004) - Comcast Corporation (NASDAQ: CMCSA, CMCSK) today announced that it has completed the purchase of TechTV from Vulcan Programming, Inc. and, as planned, will merge it with G4, the Comcast-owned television network devoted to video games and the gamer lifestyle. EchoStar Communications Corporation (NASDAQ: DISH) will have an equity interest in the combined entity. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Beginning May 28, the two channels will merge into one network called G4techTV and will be available in approximately 44 million cable and satellite homes nationwide. The merged channel will be headquartered in Los Angeles.
 | You can find more information on it at G4TechTV . I think that this is cool because I do not get G4TV and with the merge I will be able to watch the G4 shows. |

I like the mix Tech TV currently has. The merger FAQ shows that they'll be keeping most of the shows that I watch, but "Call For Help" looks like it will be killed.

Also, it is not "cool". Comcast just laid off 300 people in San Francisco (where Tech TV is based) and will be closing the entire office. I've heard that people can apply for about 100 jobs in Los Angeles, so there's a pretty big job loss.

 Steve
 | I concur. 285 of the wonderful people at Tech TV just got laid off, that's awful. And with TechTV's "former" president firing Laporte a few weeks ago, I'm just not liking anything related to TechTV lately. |

I had heard he got a new contract, but I didn't know if his leaving The Screen Savers was his choice because he wanted more personal time or TechTV's choice.
