MaximumPDA Reviews TDS's Recon 400 Rugged PDA
"Replacing a $600 to $800 PDA every time it gets dropped into the mud, caught in a downpour, or bounced off of the hood of a utility truck can become financially draining for even a large company with deep pockets. There are cheaper PDAs but many lack the options the business or professional customer needs. One solution is to get a ruggedized PDA case. There are a few cases that can help protect a PDA in an outdoor or industrial scenario but they tend to be bulky and can make using the PDA difficult. In some cases they just dont provide the protection needed. That may be OK for the occasional use in those environments, however for sustained use the only real solution is a ruggedized PDA."

"I must admit we tossed this thing around, dropped it, submerged it and even took it to a Puget Sound Handheld Users Group meeting the local Handheld/Pocket PC club here in Seattle and let them abuse it for a couple of hours. This device really can take some serious punishment."
It's certainly not for me, but if you're looking for an all-condition handheld computing solution, check this review out.

They do come in slate grey. Blue would be nice but not offered.

I noticed if you follow the link at the end of the review, you can enter to win a TDS Recon 400 (I think a 400) from mobile planet.

This PDA is perfect for those circumstances where you need a ruggidized device. I deployed two to a Sea Hawk squadron in Florida for a three week test. When the first one came back all I did was remove the screen protector and it looked great. The Navy mechanics loved it and hated to give it up.
Highly recommended for rough use.

You can get even more reviews of this device here and here.
Looks like TDS really went wild handing out review units! 8O  I wonder were/when the next review will turn up.
Shame most other manufacturers don't have a similar attitude to review units. :?
