One of my webdesign customers' web host was knocked off-line by what looks like a very nasty virus. I had never heard of this before, and was wondering if anyone here had. I'm curious to know if this is really a very bad and new virus, or if it is one that has had a patch out for months. Thanks.
The witty worm is very dangerous as it corrupts hard drive layouts and data. But it only infects machines with certain versions of ISS products (BlackIce and another one I forget). It's kind of troubling though that a web host would be using such a light weight or even software firewall. I don't trust any business that doesn't have a hardware firewall.
Thanks for the reply. The company already was using this host when I started doing web design for them, otherwise I would've had them use my dad's company, as I know he always does updates ASAP. I may try to get them to switch, but they're a law firm and not very tech literate at all, they would just want to avoid any hassle of switching. I also hate that because their current host is ftp only, which is a pain to do edits with. Thanks again.
