Default T-Mobile Pocket PC WM2003 Upgrade Released?

http://207.36.160.46/mpx200.org/mod...article&sid=894

The T-Mobile download page still refers to it as the old one, but reports are coming in suggesting that the actual download is of ROM 4.01.16, and is WM2003-based. The release notes aren't up, so we can't give full details -- but if any of you have feedback, let us know. As far as I know, this is only for the Pocket PC Phone sold by T-Mobile USA...

Update: Looks like people are successfully downloading it. Rey over at Mobile Gadget News passed on a copy of the release notes that are apparently embedded inside the download. The major updates include:
  • Always-on GPRS (i.e., phone keeps IP address in suspend mode)
  • T-Mobile My E-mail work & personal email setup tool for Inbox
  • Built-in Westtek ClearVue PowerPoint and PDF viewers
  • Support for IPSec/L2TP VPN connections
  • Phone mute
  • Other WM2003 updates (email auto-suggest, SSL for Inbox, WMP9, new PIE, dual volume control, enhanced connection manager, etc.)

I'm sending over the release note to you now...I'd transcribe the .pdf file but it is 8:31PM PST and I've got to pick-up my daughter from the in-laws an hour ago ops:

Let me know if you get it.

Yeah!!!

Release notes confirm the installer is the PPC PE 2003 OS upgrade. I downloaded the installer and will be installing it shortly.

Brief run-down of the release notes:

ROM version: 4.01.16
Radio version: 6.25.02

Feature improvements (view screen shot here)

I'll let everyone know how it goes after I upgrade my phone.

ciao,
Bill

Upgraded my device, no problems. It took about 20 minutes and now I'm going through the OS taking a look at all of the new features and reinstalling third party apps.

You can see some screen shots / photos of the install process here:

YES!!!
My employer has had a way of always selecting VPN platforms that are incompatible with any Pocket PC VPN applications. Now, though, it looks like I WILL be able to get into my corporate system.

Default NOT A GREAT EXPERIENCE

I got in a loop installing it - when it was at the point of upgrading the wireless capability it would get to 98% and then retry...kept looping...then I got T-Mobile to help and we werent able to recover (it says do not undock it at this point or you will ruin your device and we undocked it, soft and hard reset it). So I have a new one on the way. :|

As far as I ccan tell, T-Mobile pulled the upgrade and it is no longer available for download.
I just tried it and ended up with Ruu_ceV31440WWe_vs.exe (16MB).

I heard rumors it was blowing up a surprising number of t-mobiles during the install.

boo-hoo.
