I'm Going To See a Movie Tonight...
As much as I vowed I never would do it, I am going to see the latest "Lord of the Rings" movie tonight. I am definitely not a fan of the genre, mostly because I'm really bad with names anyway, and these flicks make it impossible for me to talk about them afterward:
Me: "Remember when Frodo did that thing...?" LOTR Aficionado: "Dude, that was NOT Frodo, that was Aragorn's mother!"

Still, today is my sweet daughter's 12th birthday, so, being the progressive father that I am, I agreed to take her and a dozen or so of her closest friends to a 7pm showing of "Long Live the King" (or whatever the title is). She says it's kinda long, but I'm not too worried; even if I get bored, it's not like it's more than 3 hours long, right?

Not good with names and you're going to herd a dozen 12-year-olds? You're a braver man than I!

He gave them Pocket PC pseudonyms - the only names he can remember...
He did the same with us MVPs (on every MVP meeting) so he will not remember who is posting this until I tell you my pseudonmy... ;-) Kidding!!!
Have fun Brad and it might be a good chance to listen the latest Audiobooks if you don't remember the movie anyway... ;-)

Right there with you, Brad. I've refused up to this point to see any of them, but only because I didn't want to wait a year in between each of the three movies. Once they come out on DVD I might give them a shot.

I read the books (Hobbit through ROTK) five times before the first movie came out. Then after each movie came out I read the books once, and I just ifnished Return of the King yesterday for my 7th time readign the series! Woo I'm so pumped to see the finale today at 5... I love this series..
But I would never go with a dozen 12 year olds...
...ever....
I would assume they will be screaming for Orland Bloom (plays Legolas, the skinny elf). Here's today's FoxTrot comic I figure you guys might enjoy, it has to do with girls seeing that movie

Maybe that's why I can't get the name right...It makes me think of "ROTF."
Now, if that means this is a comedy, maybe I won't be so bored after all...

Ah, The Lord Of The Rings,
I get bored by that type of Genre, but 2 of my friends went to the "The Lord of The Rings Marathon" - all 3 special edition extended versions in a row with 2 1 hour breaks for 14 hours in a movie theatre. All for $50, and they got to see the latest one 2 days early.
Talk about passion for a movie. I say movie geeks.

As someone who saw it today at 12:01am, I have to say that this was the greatest movie I have ever seen. I thought it would be hard for me to say awak, but NO, I was wide awake the entire time. It was INCREDIBLE! I'm planning on seeing it again this weekend too, then maybe another time. I can't wait until they release a DVD set with the extended editions of all three. I will then spend a day watching them all in a row. The third movie has FIVE AND A HALF HOURS total! This movie has action, drama, romance (ehh...), and some comedy, if it doesn't win best picture, I'm going to protest the academy awards.
