Asus A716 Pocket PC Phone? http://www.mobi-mania.com/index.php?xCnt=plus/comment&id=2449&title=Commentaire

Mobi-Mania has some information, in French, on what looks like a new Pocket PC Phone from Asus.

 Features include:
  Windows Mobile 2003 OS
  Intel PXA255 400MHz X-Scale
64MB of RAM, 58MB available to the user
Both Bluetooth and WiFi are mentioned, as well as CF and SD. Not sure if BT/WiFi are integrated or available via expansion cards.

Loox like this is the exact same device as the new FujitsuSiemens Loox610 PocketPC...
So i suspect the antenna is just for the WiFi thing...not for any phone functionality...

Also the speaker is in the wrong place and I don't see a microphone.

Button layout makes it longer, if you have issues with length  . still, a nice clean design.

Something about this design just looks wrong to me. Maybe its the weird button length-enhancers, but still, i hope the finished product is a bit more compact w/o speaker on the front.

direct translation ;) "At the mobility party, we saw the MyPal A716, a PPC which will be launched by Asus in 2004. This new model, successor to the A620, will have a 400mhz Intel Xscale PXA255 processor with 64MB of RAM (of which 58MB will be user accessible). Equipped with Windows Mobile 2003, the A716 will offer both Bluetooth and wifi connections [they're both built-in] and will have both an SD card slot [no mention if it's SDIO] and a CF card slot. It weighs 170 grams."

There you have it guys, no phone, just *hopefully* really good wifi access.

 | The Web site indicates it a PPC not PPC phone...This confirm the speaker and button layout observation. Both WiFi and BT are present. |

Still too much bezel and not enough screen.
 OEM manufacturers, either:
 a) make the device smaller so that the sides are barely larger than the screen width or
 b) use a bigger screen.
