Default Problems intalling a JRE!?!?!?!

I just did a fresh installation of XP Pro on my PC and every time I try to visit a page with a java applet etc. IE6 asks me to download a JVM. I have downladed the newest version of Sun's JRE and installed and re-intalled it many times... but i still can't run any java applets in IE6 and am getting the same "JVM not installed" message.

During installation however I get an error saying a network error occured during the process, the installation DOES COMPLETE though.

Is there anything I can do about this??? Thanx in advance for any help.

I would advise getting a real internet browser, that's step number one. :-P

You might want to check out the "Set Program Access and Defaults" deal if you have SP1 installed - make sure that windows is set to use your JVM and not the one from MS.
