nVidia Releases Handheld Processor Details
nVidia, which made a big splash in the handheld graphics chipset market by acquiring MediaQ several months ago, has unveiled its upcoming lineup, including the new flagship GoForce 2150.
"The GoForce 2150 has very different requirements from desktop graphics systems. The processor can store and encode pictures as large as 1.3 megapixels, outperforms the Nintendo Game Boy Advance graphics by a factor of 25, consumes little battery power, and supports 70 different display interfaces to ensure it can be used in a wide variety of devices, said Phil Carmack, vice president of handheld products at Nvidia. It can process eleven 1.3-megapixel photos per second, he said."
Whoa. 8O Of course, that might just be marketing-speak, and may not translate to that performance, but I'm glad to see more players in this market taking graphics and gaming seriously.

This is good. Anything to increase the performance of the PPC is a welcome. It's power sensitive, so kudos to nVidia.

I wonder if games will look as good as on the Palm-based Tapwave Zodiac - which essentially looks about as good as a Playstation One.

I'm much more excited about this news than I was to hear ATI was getting involved way-back-when. While ATI may be the current speed king on the desktop, nVidia's overall consistency with regards to performance and stability across all their product lines is unmatched.
I can't wait to see the fruits of their labor.
