Default Just Say No To Spam: Pocket SpamFilter Beta Released

http://www.pocketpcsoft.com/indexpc.html

"Pocket SpamFilter is the first PPC 2002/2003 application that helps you keep your email account free of spam. Reduce your bandwidth usage by inspecting your email account before downloading. Features:

Support for unlimited number of POP3 email accounts
Download info only, headers, headers + lines or complete message body
 Delete emails without downloading them
 Powerful and simple filter creation
Filter on any part of message (supports string search, regular expression and wildcards)
Filter by friends/spammers emails or domains
 Filter by senders country
Hundreds of predefined filters and blacklisted domains included"

I'm just dying to know if this works, because I get an enormous amount of spam to almost all of my email accounts. Kudos to PocketPCSoft.com for releasing an application like this, but I'm not convinced that blacklist filtering will be effective enough. I'm interested to read what you think about this!

Hmm... why not just use a server side solution? For me spam is blocked at the server level, so if I access you email from outlook, my pocket pc, etc I dont know it ever existed. Everyone should have their own web server anyway 8)

What if that's not an option for people? I know that my local ISP (Shaw Cable) does jack all about spam blocking...

Works great with all of my accounts except Pocket Hotmail 2.0 and MSN. With MSN I get Connecting, Connected, then command not implemented.
As far goes Hotmail it doesn't even see the account.

My ISP (Cablerocket) is veeerrrrryyy good about spam blocking.

Unfortunately, that's about the only thing they're good at. They filter out all the good newsgroups (anything with mp3 in the name, all the hacker-type newsgroups), they have horrible downtime (compared to a lot of ISPs), they quite often have horrible lag accessing email, if we get a power bump, it's 15 minutes to half an hour before we get ISP service back... On the plus side, when you go to do a download using a download manager, you can quite often get 2Mbps+, which I thnk is unfortunately their cap.

The website says it's still in beta so no price is listed at the moment. I highly doubt it will be freeware. I'd guess it will cost between US$25-$45.

More than most decent PPC apps cost. The magic number seems to be ~$20.
