Default Something Cool About Pocket PC 2003 - Autocomplete

The autocomplete feature when you are entering data in Pocket PC 2003 is much smarter than the same feature in 2002 and earlier devices. 2003 either keeps a record of what you've done or goes back and looks at the work you have moved the cursor to and reactivates autocomplete. In 2002 and earlier, as soon as you tapped somewhere else or entered a space, that was it. Autocomplete only worked on the next word you entered.

In the above image, I had typed "This is a test" then pressed ENTER twice and typed "Hello." I moved the cursor back to the word "test" and autocomplete picked back up as if I had never left it. It also works after deleting text. If I select "Testimony" from the list, then delete "imony" autocomplete will present me with more choices.

2003 isn't so much about an overhaul or a whole new platform. It is about literally dozens of little things that I am still discovering. I'll bring those to you in the coming weeks. Every day I am enjoying 2003 more because of these little enhancements.

Cool, I turn off autocomplete on my e740 since I never found it to be all that 'intelligent'

And also... :grumble:

Default Custom Words???

Is there any way to add custom words to the built in suggestion list? Something like in Outlook. This is one feature I'd love to see. Thanks.

I'm same. I always find that I don't get the word I want and the box always seems to appear right where I'm typing. It's normally disabled.

Looks like it might be worth trying again when I get my upgrade. Since I'm still pretty slow with Fitaly, and always tearing out my hair with Caligrapher/Transcriber, a better autocomplete might be helpful.

That sounds awesome. I just wish T-Mobile would release the 2003 OS for the PocketPC phone edition, so I could enjoy it .

It seems to add words i've used automatically to the autocomplete. I don't know how new this is since I've never had a 2002 device, but since you mentioned it I thought i'd bring this up. For example, I'll enter some weird last name, uncommon words, or words that aren't even real into Word and the next time i start to type it, the autocomplete pops up with it at the top of the list. not sure if there's a list you can manage manually though

From previous experience, PPC2002 automatically records words you type in, but after a soft reset they seem to be gone
