Default More Dell Axim Rumors

http://www.pocketpcitalia.com/cms3/...id=476&zoneid=1

According to the latest rumors from Pocket PC Italia (Google translation here), Dell will be releasing the Axim X3 in November. There will be two versions like the X5; however, the only difference will be that the Advanced will have a 400MHz processor, as opposed to the Standard having a 300MHz. The units will have 64MB of RAM and 48MB of ROM, an SDIO slot and two battery capacities (1100mAh and 1400mAh). Both will be running Windows Mobile 2003. Finally, they're slated to release a Bluetooth/WiFi-integrated device one month after that as well as a GSM/GPRS version (which seems to jibe, to some extent, with Jason's post a few weeks ago.)

(Interestingly, Pocket PC Italia refers to the next-gen XScale PXA26x, which has flash built into it.)

I belive that the PXA26x refers to the next revision of XSCALE which has memory on chip(ROM) and is a more a one chip solution than the current crop...

Default PXA 26x...

The PXA26x is basically a PXA255 with 16/32MB of Flash memory stacked with the CPU in the same package. This makes the PCB smaller (although
Intel's site only mentions 32MB of Flash not 48MB).

Until screen resolutions change, I'm staying with my soon to be PPC2003 updated Axim... although the HP 2215 looks good!

yeah here's more info
http://www.intel.com/design/pca/prodbref/251671.htm
Looks like the following:

While the Intel PXA260 processor utilizes an identical footprint in a stand alone discreet solution, the Intel PXA261, PXA262 and PXA263 processors are the first Intel PCA processors based on Intel's Multiple-Chip Product (MCP) packaging technology. This innovative technology utilizes an Intel XScale technology based processor with integrated peripherals which are "stacked" in a single package with either 16 MegaBytes (Intel PXA261) or 32 MegaBytes (Intel PXA262 and PXA263) of Intel StrataFlash memory. This enables higher levels of integration and space savings than previous generations of Intel PCA processor standalone products.

The PXA26X series embeds 16 or 32 MBytes of StrataFlash memory in the same package with the processor. You can see the official information here.

Default PXA26x - Bluetooth built in.

From the Intel site it also looks like the PXA26x has bluetooth interface built into the CPU...

Interesting...

1100mAh and 1400mAh batteries -- that can't be right. The current X5 has 1440mAh and 3400mAh battery options.

Yeah, that does look like a typo, doesn't it? Why have two capacities that are only 300mAh apart?

As for the rest of the posts -- thanks, you Intel Researchers(TM)! I'll update my post.

Probably because the 1100mAh gose into a smaller X3 device without CF, while the larger one goes into the new X5 with CF... just guessing.
