Windows Mobile 2003 Pocket Internet Explorer Quirks
If you're using your new Pocket PC 2003 device to browse Web sites, and you see strange font formatting like this:
Here's why: apparently the new Pocket Internet Explorer has issues with closing the SPAN tag. We're investigating workarounds on our site now, and will likely have something in place early July, but if you see strange formatting on other sites, Pocket Internet Explorer is the app to thank.

When do you think we will have a decent free browsing solution or is it time to buy opera or some other alternative?

For what it's worth I have been seeing similar behaviour from Netfront as well (quoted text in posts is always font+1 regular text size is the classic). Appreciate it if you could check your fixes with Netfront also.
Whilst I'm here:
1/. Outstanding job from the team on 23rd
2/. First class job on the mobile site - as long as it's reasonable and doesn't require paypal or some such pseudo account count me in
Cheers

Seems that the bug found in PocketIE is not the only one...here is a quote from the Laridian website (creators of PocketBible):
Quote:
PocketBible 2.018 / Book Reader Engine 1.021 (June 24, 2003)
Enhancements
Support Pocket PC 2003. Microsoft introduced idiosyncrasies in their code in the Pocket PC 2003. See symptoms and solutions below...
Symptom: Images aren't displayed correctly on Pocket PC 2003. These aren't used in many places (mostly Laridian and publisher logos on the title page of books). Temporarily removed problem images until Microsoft can fix the problem in its code.

Yes! Do tell! I'll be in a spending mood around the time the 5550s hit Canada.

Quick PIE 2003 Related Question
Hey, whilst we're on the subject of PIE 2003, capabilities, and limitations, can you tell us what sorts of goodies that are new (if any) are hidden in the menus and lower bar? Does it finally have a "find" function to search for words on a page?

Re: Quick PIE 2003 Related Question
There is one more bug in PIE - transparent animated gifs are not actually transparent.

No find function - besides new engine not much changed unfortunately. The "Turn off images" button is moved from command bar to the menu. That's pretty much all. :grumble:

Yeesh. Well, thanks for the answer. The movement of the hide images button is nice, although not particularly impressive.
