Default Looking for DV equipment - Any recomendations?

I want to shoot DV for online and DVD-based classes for a school.

1. Anyone know of any good DV message boards out there?
2. Anyone have any thoughts on the quality difference between Panasonic, Cannon and Sony DV cams?

Thanks.

I use Panasonics at school and I've used lots of the Canons. while I haven't used lots of Sony's say, outside of the store, I have seen lots done with them.

The Canon ZR series camera are my favorite for under $1000. They're smaller than compant camcorders but larger than micro ones. I like them. Sony's are OK but the cheap ones are big and the expensive ones are expensive, Panasonics are just plain bulky.

If you've got a limited budget go with the Canon ZR. If you're in a splurgy mood go for the GL1 of XL1

Default Thanks

Actually we do have a decent budget.

We are looking to buy lighting equipment (no idea on this one any suggestions)

Any necessary audio equipment

DV deck

tripod

DV camera and we looked at the XL1 and this is not out of our price range.

We need to buy whatever equipment will allow us to produce professional looking material for students.
