Default Running Voice IP Light

http://www.pocketpresence.com/rviplight.asp

"The Running Voice IP Light Package is a unique workgroup communication solution in that it allows for employees to talk to each other in real-time without any requirements but the corporate LAN and PCs. Running Voice IP is available for desktop PCs, Laptops as well as Pocket PC terminals, meaning instant access to colleagues at their desk or anywhere on the site as long as the corporate LAN provide cover."

"Running Voice IP Light Package is a true voice-over-IP telephony (VoIP)solution. However, it narrows down the concept to a minimum-cost work- group communication solution. Hence, rather than to provide a complex dedicated IP solution that requires a rack of expensive technology and a dedicated IT staff, it uses the already existing technology in a normal corporate network."

So far I don't see a demo, only the full product. When I went to the site and clicked on the download, or more information link I get shifted to a page that says they are working on the site. It's been like that since yesterday so I guess they must be busy. I really want to try this out, so I hope a demo gets realased soon.

Certainly a cool concept. Whiteboard functionality might be a good addition (it wasn't incorporated as far as I could see) for the future.

Been waiting a month and still nothing. I'm curious to hear someone using a 545x report back on performance of the product. It seems there have been some performance issues with some of the basic applications on the 545xs and I wonder how this application stacks up on using the system resources without crashing it.

Default What PDA's are compatible

Hi

Went to the web site and they are still updating it. Am I right in saying that only a small selection of PDA's will support VoIP. I recall looking into Microsoft Portrait - which offers similar capabilities and duplex sound only worked on older iPAQ's and not 3800 series. Would like to know more about this product but I guess I'll have to be patient.

Default New PocketPC VOIP Software

As an alternative to that..

XPhone is a SIP softphone for the Pocket PC. It's currently in beta and supports device to device and device to telephone using the SIP standard.

If you want to participate in the beta, email me.
