Default Is NEC Coming Back With a New PPC?

http://www.digitimes.com/NewsShow/A...pages=04&seq=20

NEC has apparently placed an order with a Taiwanese firm, FIC, to produce a XScale version of their MobilePro 300E unit, to be made available in the US in March. The MobilePro initially showed great promise; hopefully, NEC will be able to fix some of the issues this time around.

I assumed NEC was already out of the game. Their first PPC was so unimpressive and sold so poorly, I thought they would leave the field. I hope this next device is more competitve...and cheaper. We'll see I guess.

By the way....IT BETTER HAVE A TRANSFLECTIVE DISPLAY!

Sorry, I just had to do that.

According to their site, it has a reflective screen. If it was transflective, it sounds like the perfect PDA

Too bad Xscale is not much faster than StrongArm or my overclocked MIPS processor in many scenarios.

Default New NEC PPC

There is a review of the NEC 200e on the Foxpop site in the UK.

Is this what you're talking about above?

Have a look....

Yup, I know about the foxpop link, but thanks for the heads-up I'm working on a front-page post on this. It's not clear whether or not that's the unit that'll appear in the US.
