Default Palms called Pocket PCs?

http://www.gamespy.com/holiday2002/...e/index16.shtml

We've all seen people call your PPC a "PalmPilot". For once, someone did it backwards: on this page, two different Palms are lumped into the Pocket PC category. Finally!

Anyone have interesting anecdotes on this topic that we haven't seen before?

Well, PC is not something running MS OS only... Personal Computers are a type of computers. Macs are PC. Amigas are PC.

Palm would better be qualified as PDA, or handheld computers, since so many functions can be added to them.

Pocket PC is not wrong, from this point of view, since Palms can have a form factor similar to the Pocket PC (as in PPC).

But I'd say the article is wrong, as you pointed...

Default This is just as bad:

http://www.wave3.com/Global/story.as...7&nav=0RZFCzVY

Jewish Hospital To Open Ultra High-Tech Facility
The new facility will utilize technology like never before. Physicians will carry pocket PC devices -- Palm Pilots -- and cables throughout the facility will download patient information into those Palm Pilots anywhere in the building.

So is it a Palm or Pocket PC?? -- Goes to show that many people in the media still have NO idea what they're talking about.

LOL, Finally! I don't know how many times someone has called my PPC a Palm Pilot!

They no longer make that mistake at work though. No matter how busy I am or what I'm doing if someone calls my PPC a Palm Pilot I will stop and give them the ENTIRE PPC list of virtues and why it is NOT a Palm Pilot!  You can hear the groans of everyone around me when someone new makes that fatal mistake, they have all heard the PPC speach atleast 100 times.

It is much better these days though, almost everyone has made the switch from Palm to PPC.

This isn't something I'd want publicized. Someone mistaking a bleak and featureless Palm as a PocketPC? I'm embarassed

Uh, again this bad discussion. I cant hear this "My PPC is much more better than a Palm" any longer and on this site its very bad. I dont know why but all professional guys I know are using both ... a ppc for navigation e.g. and a Palm for the other stuff. And they never would join this kind of "discussion".

Have a look on what "Palm" means. Sure you can call a PPC a Palmtop for example. And my Macs here are PCs ... Sorry, now you can blame me because I am NOT using - and never will use - Windows for a cell phone or Desktop PC.

No, it's very good, which is why you don't like it. :P

Hmmmm, rich with lots of time are they? Two different devices types to juggle & use. Lovely. :?

I agree... PC is abbreviation for Personal Computer. If it's a Mac, or Intel based running a MS OS, or Other computer, it doesn't matter: it's still a Personal Computer.
